My husband and I have the entire series EXCEPT for 1999. We can't remember why we didn't buy it, but it is very expensive now. Others aren't near as expensive. Does anyone know why this is so expensive? I presume it is because of limited quantity, but why is this one so rare?

Often there are swings of high production of an ornament one year, followed by lower production the next. The Lighthouse Series is a good example. 1997 #1 Lighthouse was popular, thus demand and secondary market prices are strong as a result of that success, the 1998 #2 was overproduced = lower secondary market price followed by a very low production 1999 Lighthouse #3 = high secondary market price

Thanks Nikki for your response. That makes sense.
