Hello, I was just wondering if the 2006 Light of the World tabletop is considered a keepsake ornament. I have looked at the box and it says keepsake on the box so I would assume it is, but I rarely see it even listed on hallmark ornament websites so I was not sure. I was also curious if it will be included in the next hallmark ornament guide? Thanks. From, Peter

Hi Paintbeanie, Welcome to the forum. The 2006 Light of the World is a TABLE TOP piece, and thus not considered a Keepsake ORNAMENT. We have included a few table top pieces in past year Value Guides, but don't expect for that to continue in future editions.
There are just SO MANY actual Keepsake Ornaments to include and not enough space (pages) to include all the snow globes, table top pieces, figurines etc that Hallmark has produced.
In fact, I would expect that the next edition will be Keepsake Ornaments Only with no room for other Hallmark Collectible Categories. This decision will be based on cost of publishing vs retail selling price. Every page in the book = cost for the publisher and with the number of Keepsake Ornaments GROWING AND GROWING each year it makes it tricky to keep the book affordable to the collector and profitable for the publisher. We have to do both!

I thought I'd share some information about this that I heard from LaDene Votruba when I got to visit with her in 2007.
LaDene told me that this piece was originally conceived as a KOC members only piece. That is why it wasn't in the Dream Book. There was a change in the marketing concept which led to it being sold in stores.
I suspect that there wasn't a good display for this and several other pieces that came out at that time since they were late additions to the product line. I wish I'd bought a couple at a store that was going out of business but I wasn't spending a lot on ornaments and other Hallmark items at that time.
That is a beautiful piece!
